چکیده
The work of Branson (1905) gave some indication of the incidence of abdomi^ tuberculosis in children which was for the most part the result of infection by th^ strain. At this time it was known that there was a high incidence of tuberculosis in milkn1; cows. For instance, 46-8 per cent of cows slaughtered in London in 1901 shoW?t lesions (King 1901) a figure which dropped to 33 per cent for the years 1918-27. (You^: 1929). Even in the early 1940's, however, figures from various slaughterhouses show'C; an incidence of over 40 per cent in milking cows (Francis 1947). During the period from 1930 to 1963 the incidence of bovine tuberculosis infecti0'' in children and adults, as indicated by the incidence of death from tuberculosis 0 the intestines and of joints, showed a reduction (see Table 2).

Tuberculosis interferon-gamma responses in the breast milk of human immunodeficiency virus infected mothers.
Tuberculosis (TB) cellular immune responses were examined in the breast milk of human immunodeficiency virus infected mothers using the T-SPOT. TB interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA). Positive TB interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) responses were detected in 6 of 8 (75%) valid breast milk assays. Among 7 mothers with paired breast milk and blood assays, TB IFN-γ responses were higher in breast milk than...

A study was conducted to find out the prevalence of bovine tuberculosis (BTB) in Nili Ravi buffaloes at a livestock experimental station in the Punjab, Pakistan. On the basis of the comparative intradermal tuberculin test (CIDT), prevalence of BTB was found to be 10.06%. Epidemiological factors including old age, high milk production and parity played a significant role in the prevalence of the...

UNLABELLED Bovine tuberculosis is an ongoing problem in Ireland, and herd incidence has remained at approximately 5% for some years. Spillover of infection from cattle to people remains an ever-present possibility, given the ongoing pool of infection in the Irish cattle population. This paper describes an outbreak of tuberculosis affecting cattle and people on a dairy farm in southeastern Irela...

Aim: To determine the prevalence of tuberculosis among traditional milking cows in southern Zambia and isolation of Mycobacterium spp from the tuberculin positive cow's milk. Materials and Methods: A total of 1,025 cows originating from traditional cattle sector, in Mapepe, Magoye, Monze, Batoka, GARTBatoka, Kalomo areas of Zambia, supplying major quantity of milk to milk processors, were teste...
متن کاملBovine Tuberculosis: Clinical Presentation and Diagnosis
Although milk is considered as the main route for the transmission of BTB from cattle to human beings, Nonpasteurized milk is by far the most probable vehicle for the transmission of pathogenic mycobacteria [2]. An estimated 32% of the world’s population, or 1.86 billion people, are infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis [3] and more than eight million new cases of tuberculosis disease (TB) o...
متن کاملAtypical Occurrence of Pearls Tuberculosis in a Cow-Pathomorphological Findings
Bovine tuberculosis (BT) caused by Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis) has no geographical boundaries and infections occurs in diverse group of animals which includes farm animals of economic importance, wild animals and humans (Pavlik et al., 2002). Zoonotic bovine TB is present in many developing countries where surveillance and control activities are often inadequate (Cosivi et al., 1998a). In In...
